Radiant Heating Systems
Why are radiant floor heating systems so comfortable?
The answer is simple. Warm floors are created by warm water pumped through a plastic pipe in the floors. This type of heating is known as hydronic radiant floor heating (HRF).
Hydro Heating Systems
When it comes to heating systems and services, the focus on domestic hot water or hydronic heat revolves around the circulation of water and its associated pipelines. In a hydronic heating setup, a boiler is responsible for heating the water to specific temperatures, typically reaching an average of 180°F to 200°F for baseboard heating and 80°F to 85°F for radiant floor heating. This heated water is then efficiently distributed through copper or PEX tubing using a circulator or pump.
As it journeys throughout your residence, it releases warmth to slats or 'fins' positioned along the pipelines within baseboard registers. Alternatively, the heat can be directly transferred to wall panels, floors, or ceilings. The 'return water,' which has now been slightly cooled to approximately 110°F, re-enters the boiler. This return process can occur through either its designated return pipe or a network of registers, ultimately leading back to the boiler.
In a hydronic system, heating by room is controlled via thermostats and zone valves installed on the supply pipe to encourage or prevent hot water from entering a given loop. Some systems have individual circulators for each zone, sending hot water to that baseboard or heating zone only when called for by the thermostat. For expert maintenance and repairs of your hydronic heating system, rely on our professional heating services to keep your home warm and comfortable.
